Each year, two billion tights are produced, worn several times and thrown away, which contributes to make the textile industry the second most polluting industry in the world. Landfills are filled with non-biodegradable, poorly made and inexpensive textiles - and the situation is getting worse. The nylon yarn, currently used to make the most modern pantyhose, comes from an environmentally harmful oil-based manufacturing process, which is not only harmful to the planet, but also produces tights that do not last.
These harmful practices in the fashion industry are all too common. The founders of Swedish Stockings, Linn Frisinger and Nadja Forsberg, believe that the world needs more innovative and environmentally friendly products to lead the way, which is why Swedish Stockings was launched. A forerunner in sustainably manufactured nylon stockings, Swedish Stockings produces beautiful tights from recycled threads. Their factories apply sustainable practices, including the use of eco-friendly dyes, post-dye water treatment and the use of solar energy for much of the energy required for the manufacturing process.
