MAIUM, a story under the rain

The story of MAIUM begins in 2016 in the Netherlands, specifically in Amsterdam. Founded by two friends who grew up cycling in the rain, they noticed that traditional rainwear lacked style and functionality. With an average of 130 rainy days per year, they decided to create MAIUM, a brand offering raincoats and ponchos that are elegant, functional, and ecological, all while keeping you dry.

In Dutch, there are hundreds of words and expressions to talk about rain, including MAIUM. The word comes from « Bargoens », where it can mean « rain », « water », or even « ditch », elements that are abundant in Amsterdam.

MAIUM Raincoats and ponchos made from sustainable materials

The items in the MAIUM collection are primarily made from recycled materials, such as recycled polyester (rPET) and recycled nylon. Their raincoats are fully waterproof and designed for daily use. To ensure that the rPET truly comes from post-consumer plastic, MAIUM works with suppliers certified by GRS (Global Recycled Standard), a strict certification process with a complete chain of custody.

To ensure that the activities in the supply chain are conducted ethically, traceably, and transparently, MAIUM has adopted the OECD due diligence methodology and supports the conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
